Ten Plagues
When Pharaoh refused to let the enslaved Israelites go free, God sent ten escalating plagues on Egypt — from water turning to blood to swarms of locusts, culminating in the death of every firstborn son. The full account runs through Exodus 7–12.

The plagues were: blood, frogs, gnats, flies, livestock disease, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, and finally the death of the firstborn. Each one directly challenged a different Egyptian god — the Nile, associated with the god Hapi, turning to blood; the sun god Ra blotted out by darkness — making the plagues as much a contest between gods as a series of disasters. It was the tenth plague that finally broke Pharaoh’s resolve and led to the Exodus.
