This April, we invite you to a series of creative and educational activities designed to spark imagination, celebrate culture, and bring our community together. Each carefully curated event offers unique opportunities for learning, self-expression, and connection across generations.


EVENT SCHEDULE

Monday 14th April | 2:00-3:00 PM
Bead Lizards Workshop
Create colorful reptilian friends in this hands-on crafting session. Children aged 8+ will learn weaving techniques to transform ordinary beads into extraordinary lizard companions, developing fine motor skills and artistic confidence.

Tuesday 15th April | 10:00-11:00 AM
First Nations Paper Totem Pole Craft
Celebrate World Art Day by creating symbolic totem poles inspired by Indigenous traditions. This intergenerational workshop (ages 5+) explores cultural storytelling through papercraft, fostering appreciation for First Nations art forms.

‘Magic Jack’ Book Launch & Storytime
Experience the magic of storytelling with author Kirsty Roby and illustrator Tania Pauling. This Easter-themed event includes a reading, craft activity, and opportunity to purchase signed copies of this delightful new children’s book.

Teen Painting Workshop
A dedicated creative space for young artists (13+) to explore acrylic techniques under librarian guidance. This structured yet relaxed session helps teens develop painting skills while expressing their unique perspectives.

VR Forest Experience
Journey among kauri giants through cutting-edge virtual reality technology. The Arataki team guides participants (5+) through an immersive ecological adventure, raising awareness about forest conservation.

Wednesday 23rd April | 10:00-11:30 AM
Free Play LEGO®
Unleash creativity with our popular brick-building session. Children 5+ can construct, collaborate, and problem-solve while developing spatial reasoning and engineering fundamentals.

ANZAC Commemoration
9:30-10:00 AM: Educational museum viewing at RSA
10:00-11:00 AM: Peace lantern craft
A meaningful intergenerational event (5+) featuring historical artifacts and a symbolic craft honoring service and peace.
