Join us for four days of rich, thought-provoking learning and exchange at Freedom and Focus 2025, hosted by the staff and students of Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School, a globally unique institution rooted in indigenous tikanga.
This year’s programme—curated by Micha Espinosa, Lynn Watson, Rachel Finley, Amy Chaffee, and Julia Moody—brings together voices and research from around the world under the theme: Voice Is Action.
Each day begins and ends with karakia and waiata (Māori prayer and song), grounding us in shared reflection. Mornings offer dialogue with kaumātua and invited guests, while afternoons are filled with workshops you can tailor to your interests. Evenings come alive with performances by international and local artists.
