David and Goliath

When the Philistine giant Goliath challenged Israel’s army to send a champion, a young shepherd named David volunteered — and brought him down with a single stone from a sling. The story is one of the most famous in the Bible, found in 1 Samuel 17.

What giant did David defeat with a sling and a stone?
👉 Goliath.

Faith over armour

Goliath stood over nine feet tall and was armed head to toe; David, still a boy, refused King Saul’s armour because he’d never trained in it, and went out with only his sling and five smooth stones. He told Goliath he came “in the name of the Lord,” not with sword or spear. One stone to the forehead ended the fight before it began — and turned David, until then just the youngest of Jesse’s sons, into a national hero.
